The Washington County, Florida Board of Commissioners is taking a proactive step to work around the scarcity of hand sanitizer, surgical masks and surgical gloves, with the help of the extended community.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2020, two representatives from Distillery 98 in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida drove two hours to meet with Washington County Chairman Tray Hawkins and County employees to deliver 10 gallons of high-proof alcohol, mixed with Aloe Vera, peroxide and glycerin, along with scent, to be used in Washington County as hand sanitizer.

Harrison Holditch, spokesperson, CEO and co-founder of Distillery 98, said on Wednesday, ‘We are donating to governmental agencies, health care workers, restaurants, gas stations, and any businesses that need the product’.

The distillery mixes the alcohol with Aloe Vera, peroxide and glycerin, and then allows businesses and governmental agencies to package it to suit their needs.

Washington County Chairman Tray Hawkins said, ‘We will be mixing the hand sanitizer and distributing to businesses, health care professionals and government workers across Washington County’.

‘Without Harrison and Distillery 98, this would not have been possible’, said Hawkins.

On Friday, March 27, 2020, staff at the Washington County, Florida Government Annex on South Boulevard in Chipley mixed the alcohol base with Aloe Vera and scent, and packaged it according to need.

‘We will be dropping some of this sanitizer to several businesses, restaurants and other organizations that need it’, said Tray Hawkins on Friday, as seen in the accompanying photos by The Goulding Agency in Chipley.
