Catalyst Fabric Solutions in Marianna, Florida Industrial Park Retools To Produce Protective Medical Equipment in Response to COVID-19

Catalyst Fabric Solutions has grown from the inception of an idea to 3-shifts employing hundreds of workers in the Marianna Industrial Park next to the Marianna, Florida Airport over the past several years.

A very large textile product producer for Shutterfly, the company processes and prints photos and graphics on fabrics, then assembles, sews and ships blankets, pillows and all manner of other products to consumers.

Recently, the business has retooled to manufacture medical-grade protection equipment needed to work with patients and medical personnel vital in the fight against COVID-19.

Florida Panhandle Technical College in Chipley, Florida has played a large part in the employee and support personnel expansion for Catalyst Fabric Solutions, with many key positions at Catalyst filled by FPTC graduates with certifications in essential skills.

One such position is held by Pedro Martinez, a graduate of the FPTC IT, Cybersecurity and other programs, furnishing Catalyst state-of-the-art internet security and functionality.

‘Florida Panhandle Technical College enabled me to retool my life, obtain a totally new skillset and forge a new life for me and my family’, says Martinez.

Another key position at Catalyst was filled by Simon Dorado, a graduate of the Digital Media Program at FPTC. Dorado was able to qualify for and accept the position of art director at Catalyst, an achievement possible only through hard work by Dorado and the skilled teaching at FPTC.

Dorado recently spoke to an assemblage of FPTC instructors, advisors and students, and explained how his education allowed him to reach professional heights which were only a dream up to that point for him.

Catalyst is currently looking to hire up to 75 full- and part-time employees to manufacture masks, gowns and other emergency medical apparatus.

Applications may be delivered in person, Monday through Friday, from 8AM to 4PM at the Catalyst main plant, located at 3595 Industrial Park Drive, Marianna.
