EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 20-104

(Emergency Temporary Action Related to Unemployment Compensation – COVID-19)

 

           WHEREAS, the U.S. Department of Labor has issued Unemployment Insurance Program Letter guidance No. 10-20 and No. 13-20 to provide discretion to states and emergency temporary modification and suspension authority to states in order to respond to the spread of COVID-19.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, RON DESANTIS, as Governor of Florida, by virtue of the authority vested in me by Article IV, Section (l)(a) of the Florida Constitution, Chapter 252, Florida Statutes, and all other applicable laws, promulgate the following Executive Order to take immediate effect:

Section 1.        I hereby suspend under section 443.111(l)(b), Florida Statutes, the biweekly reporting requirement by claimants of “actively seeking work” requirement, only to the extent necessary. This suspension is on an emergency temporary basis as needed to respond to the spread of COVID- I9.

Section 2.        This directive shall remain in effect until the expiration of Executive Order 20-52.
