Colby Peel, Chairman of the Panhandle Watermelon Festival, has announced that after much though and deliberation, the decision has been made to cancel the 2020 Panhandle Watermelon Festival due to the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19.

Peel said, “We carefully weighted all options available to us and believe that this decision is nesessary for the protection of our community.”

Peel went on to say, “The Panhandle Watermelon Festival is like family, and our primary responsibility is for everyone’s well-being.  At this critical moment, we must sacrifice a little to do our part in taking control of the spread of this virus.”

Peel added, “As a result, we will be here in the future to celebrate many wonderful festivals to come.”
