Wausau, Florida Possum Festival Awards ‘Virtual Possum King and Queen’ Titles on Monday, July 27, 2020

Financed by donations from Washington County, Florida Superintendent of Schools candidates Joe Taylor and Martha Compton, Wausau, Florida held the first virtual ‘Wausau Possum King and Queen Competition’ on Saturday, July 18, 2020 in Wausau Town Hall, in response to COVID-19 social distancing and CDC-guidelines.

Four men and women competed, vying for a $500 First Prize along with bragging rights as official representative of the Wausau Possum Festival, this year celebrating their 51 year anniversary.

The event was emcee’d by James Walsingham, this year’s Wausau Possum Festival Chairman, who wore a CDC-approved face shield for the duration of the competition.

Juna Sims, who performed as ‘Juna Tuna’ and Eric Pettis, with a stage name of ‘Joe Possum’ were judged as the 2020 Wausau Possum Festival Queen and King respectively on Monday evening, July 27, 2020 by members of the Wausau Development Club.

Each performance event was taped for viewing by judges who awarded the $500 cash prizes, furnished by Joe Taylor and Martha Compton, as seen below.
