Vernon, Florida City Council Holds Workshop and Regular Monthly Meeting on Monday, September 21, 2020

The Vernon, Florida City Council held a workshop and regular monthly meeting on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 5:30PM in Vernon City Hall.

The council approved the Vernon Homecoming Parade, with the closing of Hwy 79 through Vernon, for Friday, October 2, 2020 at 1PM.

The Council also discussed flooding along Hwy 79 during Hurricane Sally due to improper drainage in the road construction zone.

The City Council heard reports from the Fire Department, Recreation Department and Road crew, all focused on recent activities related to flooding caused by Hurricane Sally.

Grant writer Fred Fox Enterprises was present at the meeting to suggest several grant opportunities open to the City in several areas, including improvements to Parks and Recreation facilities.
