Linda Sue Wagner, age 75, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2020 in her Peachtree City, Georgia home.
Linda was born in 1945 to Alfred and Lena Ward in the town of Bonifay, Florida. She spent her formative years in Vernon, Florida and the Florida panhandle and was extremely helpful in raising her four younger siblings. This helped establish her as a very caring person and encouraged her to obtain a degree in education from Florida State University. She applied her life experiences and degree by becoming a teacher in early childhood development in the Pensacola, Florida school system, a profession that she truly loved. She subsequently moved to Fort Walton Beach, Florida in her chosen profession. There, she met her husband Paul, an Air Force fighter pilot and Vietnam Veteran. They were married in Vegas in 1973. More adventure awaited her as Paul became a Delta Air Lines pilot. They moved to Chicago, IL, Fort Lauderdale, FL, Burlington, WI and then moved to Peachtree City in 1990.
Her life was full of enjoyment and adventure. Their purchase of a cabin near Camden, Maine in 1980 opened a whole new lives adventure. Her many friends in both locations enabled her to have two wonderful worlds in which to spread her enthusiasm for life and her love of others. Linda was a lover of books. She consumed books at a ferocious rate and enjoyed her book (wine) club immensely. She was also very physically active. Her greatest joy was spent on the tennis courts where her and her many friends battled it out. Among her other joys were scuba diving, water skiing, kayaking, cross country skiing and traveling. Her travels took her around the world from Europe, Asia, Africa, South America and points between. One of her favorite trips was to see the Great Wall of China with her close girlfriends. Her most memorable trip was her travels throughout Europe in 1995 with Paul and her son Cole.
Linda is survived by her husband, Paul, to whom she was married for 47 years; her son Cole and his wife Lori; grandchildren, Jacob, Benjamin and Larissa; her brother, Gerald Ward; sister, Becky Ward; sisters-in-law, Tessera and Kathy; and her great friend, who she called her adopted sister, Donna Ruth. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Luke and Bud Ward, and sister-in-law Donna Jean.
Although her battle was against cancer, her wish was for donations to The ALS Association donate.als.org/donate in memory of Linda, Luke and Donna Jean, as an expression of sympathy. The family lovingly requests that no flowers be sent.
A celebration of her life will occur at a later date.
