Betty D. Walters, 91, passed away Saturday, November 21, 2020, at Jackson Hospital.
Although she was born in Georgia and traveled the world with her military husband, she always considered Marianna her home since her daughter and son-in-law lived there.
She was lovingly known as grandma by everyone. She was an avid trial watcher and loved everyone at the courthouse. Whenever there was an upcoming trial everyone would ask if grandma was coming, and they would put her cushion on the front row so she’d be comfortable for the duration. She loved being part of the “behind the scenes” time during breaks and often gave her opinion about how things were going.
Betty is survived by her four children; Gene and Colleen Walters, Tina and Bill Wright, Mike and Cathy Walters and David and Trish Walters, as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her two special friends, Boots and Louie, who she met while living in Delaware and has corresponded with for over 65 years.
The family would like to thank Somerset Assisted Living in Dothan, Alabama, for giving her care and independence since 2013. They would also like to thank SHC at the Courtyard, Jackson Hospital ER and 2nd floor staff for giving her such loving care.
Due to Covid-19 there will be a Memorial service for Betty at a later date. James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
