Donald E. Miller, 76, of Marianna went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 14, 2020, at Jackson Hospital.
Mr. Miller was born on October 22, 1944, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. He retired after 31 years as an electrician from Gulf Power Scholz Plant (Sneads) and Crist Plant (Pensacola). He was a 50 year member of the IBEW, to include locals #1055 and #676. Don was a great man of faith and a devoted husband to his wife, Joan, for 42 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He also loved to travel, watch NASCAR, and he enjoyed working in his shop at home.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Ruth Miller, his sister, Elizabeth Mae Pare, and his mother and father in-law Lester and Lillian Mooneyham.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Joan Mooneyham Miller; his three children, Donna Cordle (Jerry) of Leesburg, GA, Marcia Shanks (Steve) of Enterprise, AL, Susan Smith (Hardy) of Marianna, FL; six grandchildren, Lance Miller Corbett, of Gainesville, FL, Lauren Cordle of Pensacola, FL, Jacob Cordle of Leesburg, GA , Emily Smith and Sarah Smith of Marianna, FL, and Steven Owen Shanks Jr. of Mobile AL; one great grandchild, Magnolia Rain Corbett of Gainesville, FL and one brother James R. Miller of Gulf Breeze, FL.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Progressive Care Unit at Jackson Hospital and also thank Dr. Richard Christopher and Dr. Steven Spence.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Marianna Florida, The Florida Baptist Children’s Home in Lakeland, Florida, or Jackson Hospital Foundation.
A private family ceremony will be held on Friday December 18, 2020 with interment to follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
