Geraldine Jackson, 93 of Vernon, Florida Passes on January 12, 2021

In humble submission to the will of God, we respectfully announce the earthly transition of Mother Geraldine Jackson of Vernon, FL on January 12, 2021 in the comfort of her home. She was 93 years old and a life-long native of Washington County, FL. 

Mother Jackson was born on November 2, 1927 in Vernon, FL to the late Della Baker Matthews and Eli Green.  She was reared in Vernon, Washington, County, FL, and was educated in the Washington County Public Schools.

Mother Jackson was a member of the New Bethel AME Church of Vernon, FL and served as a Stewardess, Senior Church Mother, VBS Volunteer, AME Convention Delegate & President of the Church Choir.  She was employed as the director of the Tri-County Head Start Program for numerous years.  In addition to caring for her family and sustaining a successful career, she like to complete crosswords, cook, create arts & crafts, fish, garden, read, sew, sing, travel, and volunteer. She was a Den Mother for the Vernon Club Scout Troop.  She would help anyone she saw in need.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons: Hardie D. (Cherryll) Jackson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Min. Hurtis Tyrone (Clarissa) Jackson of Starke, FL; several grandchildren & great-grandchildren; brother: Obie C. Matthews; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Life & Committal Service will be held 11 AM CST, Saturday, January 23, 2021 from the sacred grounds of the Sylvania AME Cemetery of Vernon, FL with Rev. Freddie Tellis, officiating. 

A Public Walk-Through Viewing will be held from 12-5 PM CST at Cooper Funeral Home of Chipley, FL.  Family & friends may sign the guestbook online at www.cooperfhchipley.com.
