For the first time since December 6, 2020, COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped below 2,000 in Alabama.
105 hospitals reported 1,978 inpatient cases, making for an approximate average of 19 cases per hospital.
Locally, Flowers Hospital in Dothan, Alabama reported a drop in patients from 44 on Wednesday to 33 Friday.
The hospital also reported five new deaths since Wednesday, making for a death county of 179.
Meanwhile, Southeast Health in Dothan is treating 72 COVID-19 patients and has reported 243 deaths.
