Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama Ready for Mass Vaccinations Next Week

By | February 9, 2021

Starting on Feb. 8, Southeast Health will be holding a large scale, appointment-only COVID-19 vaccine clinic in its West Parking Garage.

Southeast Health will be one of the eight sites statewide that will be doing this.

Nurse practitioner Wyndi Thompson said they already have stored vaccines which the state has already agreed to. Now, the vaccine sites must do the same.

“If sites would commit to so the large scale vaccination that they would give us the supply, and they have come through with that so we actually have the doses within our freezer as we speak,” Thompson said.

They already have over 100 people who have booked their appointment online, which now there’s a waiting list for the number of appointments open.

The Alabama Department of Public Health asked that they gave distributed a certain amount.

“That was the ask from the ADPH was to do a 1,000 a day,” Thompson said.

She said several residents reached out looking forward to getting the vaccine, along with community organizations and services in the Wiregrass showing their support to Southeast Health.

Thompson said some businesses even offered to send food and any other supplies needed to help with this process.

Overall, it’s been a team effort. Their priority is just to protect the Wiregrass community.

“I just think it’s important to everyone here to get this vaccination out so that we can get this pandemic behind us so I really think that our staff doesn’t look at it as it being overwhelming but look at it as necessary to take care of the community,” Thompson said.
