One Dead in Overnight Vehicle Accident in Walton County, Florida

An Ohio man is dead after a crash in Walton County.

Florida Highway Patrol Troopers say the crash happened on Highway 98 west of Watersound Parkway Friday, around 2 a.m.

Troopers say in a 32-year-old man from Panama City was driving a Porsche along 98. They say that man failed to slow down, rear-ending a Chevy pickup truck driven by a 59-year-old Ohio man.

Walton County Sheriff’s Deputies say the driver of the truck was ejected during the crash. They also say after the impact, the truck caught fire.

The man in the truck died from his injuries. The man inside the Porche had minor injuries.

Deputies say charges are pending the investigation.

Multiple agencies are reporting a fatal two-vehicle crash in Walton County early Friday morning.

he Florida Highway Patrol says the incident happened sometime around 2 a.m. on Highway 98 near North Watersound Parkway when a white Porche failed to slow down for a blue Chevy pickup truck and collided with the back of it. Troopers confirm the driver of the truck suffered fatal injuries.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office is also on the scene. Deputies say there are delays with eastbound traffic on Highway 98, but due to the crash’s proximity to Emerald Coast Middle School, they are unable to redirect all traffic. They are suggesting a detour using County Road 395 and County Road 30A.
