According to the Jackson County Times, two Jackson County residents were killed and a third was seriously injured in an automobile accident Friday night in Calhoun County.
The two-vehicle wreck happened at the intersection of State Road 69 and State Road 286.
Vehicle was a sport utility vehicle driven by a 27-year-old female from Grand Ridge with a 21-year-old male passenger Youngstown, Ohio. The second vehicle was a sport utility vehicle driven by a 41-year-old male from Greenwood with a 43-year-old male from Marianna.
Both the passenger and the driver in the second vehicle were killed in the accident. The diver and passenger in the first vehicle both sustained serious injuries.
Vehicle one was westbound on State Road 286 and vehicle two was southbound on State Road 69. Vehicle one failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of State Road 69 and collided with vehicle two’s left side. Vehicle one began to rotate counter clockwise, ejecting the passenger and vehicle two began to rotate counter clockwise.
Vehicle one traveled onto the south shoulder of County Road 274 and its right rear collided with a stop sign. It continued traveling in a southwesterly direction until the front collided with a fence before finally coming to rest on the south shoulder of County Road 274 facing west.
Vehicle two traveled onto the south shoulder of County Road 274 where its left side collided with a fence before coming to rest on the south shoulder of County Road 274 facing northwest.
The Florida Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office, Calhoun County EMS, Altha Volunteer Fire Department and Sneads Volunteer Fire Department.
