Betty Lois Byrd Neel, 90, went home to be with Jesus on March 4, 2021, peacefully at her home in Sneads, Florida. She was born in Faceville, Georgia on December 14, 1930, to George M. Byrd and Linnie Pearl Byrd.
She married Andrew Neel of Grand Ridge, Florida on June 21, 1948. They were married 49 years upon his passing. He was the love of her life.
She worked at Grand Ridge School, sold Princess House crystal products, was an active member of Providence Baptist Church for many years, and was the church secretary there for a period of time.
Her life was a living example of one of her favorite Bible verses. Ephesians 4:32 “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as also God forgave you in Christ.”
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five brothers; two sisters; and only son; Richard Andrew Neel.
Betty is survived by two daughters, Patricia Phillips (Bill), and Paula Neel Sorrell; grandchildren, Drew Phillips (LeAnn), Holly Cummings (Jakob), Billy Neel, Linnie Neel (Gene), Andy Neel, Cameron Henderson, Cody Sorrell, Desiree Grice (Lane), and Colton Hall; 11 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 6 PM Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel with Chaplain Flavious Pittman officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at James and Sikes Maddox Chapel.
