After locating the abandoned vehicle involved in the high speed pursuit earlier, Washington County Deputies requested the assistance of the Northwest Florida Reception Center K9 and Holmes CI K9 tracking teams in an attempt to locate the driver who was suspected to have fled on foot in the immediate area.
Within 10 minutes of the dogs being on the ground, the suspect John Michael Grant of Monticello, Florida was located in a nearby wooded area between Pinecrest St. and Dalton St in Vernon.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bay County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Highway Patrol and Panama City Beach Police in reference to a stolen vehicle pursuit initiated in Bay County.
The vehicle was lost and has since been located on Dawkins Street in Vernon. It was abandoned by the driver(suspect).
A large amount of law enforcement are in the area. K-9 teams have been activated and are in route to aid in the search for the suspect.
