By | March 22, 2021
On Thursday, March 18, 2021, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit was assisted by K9 units from Washington County Sheriff’s Office and Chipley Police Department in conducting a sniff of classrooms and vehicles at Marianna High School.

In the event of a positive alert, the area was searched and any illegal substances were turned over to the assigned School Resource Officer for further investigation.

The JCSO K9 Unit has also recently been deployed at Graceville School, Malone School, and Marianna K8. These deployments come as a result of the partnership between JCSO and the Jackson County School Board Police Department in an effort to reduce the introduction of narcotics into the school system, keeping all of Jackson County’s schools a safer place for our youth to learn.

The JCSO K9 unit will continue to conduct unannounced deployments throughout the school year, as requested by the JCSBPD and school administration.

Sheriff Edenfield would like to extend his thanks to the Sheriff Crews and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, Chief Thompson and the Chipley Police Department, the Jackson County School Board Police Department, and the Jackson County School Board in their assistance with coordinating these efforts.

Sheriff Edenfield is committed to keeping our school systems free of narcotics and educating our youth against the dangers associated with narcotic use.
