Jacksn County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Elian J. Reyes, 20 of Chipley on Charges of Fleeing and Resisting Arrest

On Sunday, April 4, 2021, at approximately 6:20 AM, a Deputy with the Uniform Patrol Division was on patrol in the area of Highway 231 and I-10 and observed a grey Dodge Charger traveling northbound on Highway 231, operating with unsafe equipment (hood unsecure).

The Deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle, utilizing the emergency equipment on his marked patrol unit. The driver failed to stop and made a U-turn on Highway 231, and continued to evade the deputy while exceeding the posted speed limit.

The pursuit entered the city limits of Alford, where the driver continued changing direction of travel in the roadway, in an attempt to flee from the pursuing Deputy. The vehicle was successfully stopped at Georgia St and Third Ave where the driver was taken into custody.

The driver and single occupant of the vehicle was identified as Elian J. Reyes, who was also confirmed to have an active warrant out of Bay County, Florida for violation of pretrial release for Attempting to Flee/Elude Law Enforcement. Reyes was placed under arrest and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
