On April 16, 2021, a HCSO deputy stopped a Nissan Altima being driven by Somer Hunter from Opp, Alabama on Hwy 2.
While the deputy was talking to Hunter K9 Highway was deployed for a free air sniff of the vehicle, to which he alerted to presence of illegal narcotics.
Hunter was asked to step out of the vehicle, and she began to reach to the passenger side of the car refusing to exit the vehicle.
Deputies forcibly removed her from the vehicle and restrained her, as doing so she admitted to there being narcotics in the vehicle.
A search was conducted and located in her purse lying in the passenger seat was a meth pipe along with a bag of meth.
Hunter was arrested and charged with possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and resisting arrest without violence.
