Karen Nelson of Chipley, Florida, age 72, transitioned from this life to Heaven, on April, 18, 2021.
Karen was born in Baltimore, Maryland to the late George and Sarah Machovec. She moved to Plant City, FL with her family when she was a young girl and lived there until 1989 when she and her husband moved to Graceville, FL and then later to Chipley where she resided ever since.
Family always came first for Karen and she loved each one deeply and with much devotion. She valued being able to host and cook for the entire family the annual Thanksgiving gathering. Her love for butterflies and lighthouses is evident in the decoration of her home where she proudly displayed so many of them, and she enjoyed camping and traveling with family. She was a faithful member of Plant City Church of God and then Graceville Assembly of God.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 58 years, Robert Nelson; four children Mike (Peggy) Nelson, David (Connie) Nelson, Steve, (Sandi) Nelson, Sarella (Wayne) Coatney; two siblings Darice (Dan) Downs, Anita (Noland) Colkmire; seven grandchildren Matthew (Michelle) Nelson, Kyle (Taran) Nelson, Alex (Heather) Nelson, Scott Nelson, Sydney Nelson, Kellie Coatney, Corey Nelson and eleven great grandchildren and many more family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Chipley, 1300 South Boulevard, Chipley, FL. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice.
