Members of the local committee for National Day of Prayer program joined him in council chambers Monday as he signed the document.

“Citizens of all faiths are welcome to come out May 6 to the Amphitheatre on Circle Drive to join in prayer,” says Mayor Bob Campbell, “a freedom which still exists for those who share a common faith to assemble in a public square.”

The National Day of Prayer is an annual event, established in an act of Congress in 1952 and is in the 69th year of national recognition.
