Mayor Bob Campbell signed a proclamation with members of the DeFuniak Springs Public Works Department declaring May 16 through 22 Public Works Week in DeFuniak Springs.

Mayor Campbell signed the proclamation in accordance with the tradition of the American Public Works Association where those who work in professions that provide and maintain public services and utilities will be honored during National Public Works Week 2021, May 16-22.

“We ask citizens to join the City in taking this week to celebrate the amazing work of public works personnel,” says Mayor Bob Campbell, “not only in the City of DeFuniak Springs, but throughout the entire country.  Now, more than ever, it is critical to energize and educate the public about the importance of public works such as planning, building, managing, and operating at the heart of local communities to improve quality of life each day.

They are, in short, the people who maintain and improve the systems and services vital to a community’s health, safety, and comfort,” he says.

Public Works helps maintain a community’s strength by working together to provide an infrastructure of services in water, wastewater, and storm water, natural gas, public buildings and spaces, parks and grounds, solid waste and refuse removal, right of way and roadway management.
