Florencie Mervyne Cannon Mitchell, age 86, of Grand Ridge, Florida, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021 after a short illness.
She was born May 18, 1935 in Grand Ridge to the late Simon Deloy Cannon and Ursula Durden Cannon.
Florencie was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist/Hillside Church in Grand Ridge.
She retired from the Jackson County School Board as a bus driver. Florencie loved to garden and grow flowers, and was an avid reader.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Charlotte Ann Mitchell; two brothers, Dalton Deloy Cannon and Kyle Darine (Tommy) Cannon.
Florencie is survived by her husband, Zack Mitchell, Jr., together for 62 years; one daughter, Belinda Mitchell Miles and husband, Johnnie; two grandchildren, Myra Lindsey Miles and Beau Mitchell Miles of Grand Ridge; sister, Mellie Jane Cannon Morris of High Springs, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, June 5, 2021 at Pleasant Hill Baptist/Hillside Church in Grand Ridge with Rev. Dallas Ellis officiating. Interment will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery with James & Sikes Funeral Home Maddox Chapel directing.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2021 at James & Sikes Maddox Chapel.
