Charles Derrick Jackson, 76 Passes on June 3, 2021 at Houston Healthcare

Charles Derrick Jackson, born December 18, 1944 to the late Clifford and Christine Newberry Jackson, passed away on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at Houston Healthcare. Born in Macon County, Georgia, Charles moved to Warner Robins in the third grade and completed his education in Houston County schools, Class of 1963 from Warner Robins High School. An avid fan and supporter of Demon football, he held season tickets for most of his adult life.

Charles joined the U.S. Army in 1962 and served a tour of duty in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division. Upon discharge from his military service, he began a long civil service career at Robins Air Force Base. He retired after 38 years, as a Branch Chief in Avionics. He received numerous awards as an electronics technician, supervisor, and branch chief. Upon retirement, he was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Civil Service Award.

Charles and his wife of 43 years, enjoyed life to the fullest while traveling to ball games, NASCAR races, car shows, and fun weekends with family and friends. Always loving cars, many Saturday afternoons were spent cruising in his 1955 classic Chevy with other old friends in their classic cars. Most of all, he was a devoted husband, father, uncle, and friend who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Charles served as Past President and lifetime member of the WRHS Touchdown Club, Warner Robins Bulldog Club Board of Directors, Georgia Bulldog Motor Coach Club, and National Street Rod Association. He spent many years as a member of the Southern Hills and Southern Landings Golf Course playing golf with longtime friends, coworkers, and classmates.

In addition to his parents, Charles was predeceased by his son, C. Derrick Jackson; brothers, Joseph, Carl, Clifton, and Wayne Jackson; sisters, Betty Sullivan and Bernice Miller.

Family left to cherish his memory are his loving and devoted wife, Jennifer Baker Jackson; daughter, Lisa Jackson Bottoms (Steve) of Chipley, FL; brother, John Jackson (Anne) of Olympia, WA; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 7, 2021 at McCullough Funeral Home Chapel. After the memorial service, Mr. Jackson will be laid to rest at Magnolia Park Cemetery.
