An investigation into an altercation leads to felony drug charges on a Youngstown man.

On the morning of June 8th, the Washington County Communications Center received a call from a female, whispering she was in a vehicle and needing assistance.

The Dispatcher could hear the female was in a verbal altercation with a male subject and was able to get a vague description of the vehicle and possible location. Deputies near the area located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

On scene, deputies made contact with the driver. He was asked to exit the vehicle and produce his driver’s license. In an attempt to conceal his identity, the driver gave a false name and birthdate to which dispatch advised “no record found”.

The driver stated he, his girlfriend and their two small children had rented a U-haul, spent the night in a parking lot in Chipley and accidentally locked the keys in the U-haul. He also stated his identification was in the U-haul because they were moving and didn’t have enough money to hire a locksmith.

After several attempts to identify the driver, deputies made contact with the female subject who identified the driver as, 36-year-old, Bryan Drakeford Gray of Youngstown.

Once deputies were able to positively identify Gray, he was found to have a VOP warrant out of Bay County. Gray was then taken into custody.

With consent to search the vehicle, several items were recovered. Located in the trunk of the vehicle were a couple guns, several rounds of ammunition and a small gun safe with important documents, which included Gray’s wallet with ID.

Also, in Gray’s wallet, a substance that field tested positive for Heroin.

Gray was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of controlled substance, possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted FL felon and false identification given to LEO.
