Ms. Loretta “Etta” H. Poole, age 98, formerly of Grand Ridge, FL, passed away on June 17, 2021 in Valdosta, Georgia.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Jackson County, Florida, born September 7, 1922. She was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria at Grand Ridge School and later retired as a Psychiatric Aide from Florida State Hospital. She was currently the oldest member of the congregation at Grand Ridge Baptist Church.
Loretta enjoyed her church family, caring for her flowers, and cutting grass in her yard until recently. She never saw a plant or flower that she didn’t like and wanted one of each in her yard.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gustavus “Gus” Hamilton and Rossie Carpenter Hamilton; her husband, Cohen O. Poole; brother, Ottis Hamilton; sister, Edna Earl Hamilton Banks; and son-in-law, Lloyd Nolan.
Loretta is survived by two children, Dorothy Nolan of Valdosta, GA and her significant other, Kenneth Bryant, Eanix Poole (Wavene) of Lineville, AL; five grandchildren, James, Greg (Rose) & Richard (Amy) Nolan of Valdosta, GA, Michelle Poole Ferguson (Clay), and Andrew Poole (Jolene) of Tallahassee FL; brother, James O. “Jim” Hamilton (Agnes) of Grand Ridge, FL; 10 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Loretta “Etta” Hamilton Poole will be 2 p.m. at the Grand Ridge Baptist Church on Saturday, June 19, 2021 with the Reverend Caron Harn officiating. Visitation will be at 1 p.m. central time until the time of service at the Church. Burial will follow in Carpenter Cemetery with Marianna Chapel Funeral Home directing.
Pallbearers will be James Nolan, Greg Nolan, Richard Nolan, Greg Minter, Jr., Jordan Nolan, Andrew Poole, and Kenneth Hamilton.
