On July 7, 2021 Officers with the Chipley Police Department were alerted to a suspicious incident that occurred in the Walmart parking lot.
Officers responding to the scene were advised a male in a black Jeep Cherokee had recklessly brandished a firearm from the driver side window of the vehicle while driving around the parking lot. Upon arriving to the area an Officer observed the vehicle and performed a traffic stop on it.
The driver was found to be in possession of two loaded pistols and drug paraphernalia. Further investigation led the officers to believe the driver had also been driving under the influence.
Bystanders in the parking lot later reported the driver was circling the parking lot with the gun in his hand which was hanging out of the driver’s window, and would tap the gun on the door as he passed by their location.
Arrested was Takoda Robert Walters, 22 yoa, of Bonifay, Florida, charged with DUI .08 or more, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Improper Exhibition of a Firearm. Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
