At 2AM PDT, the center of now Hurricane Felicia was located over the eastern North Pacific Ocean about 730 miles (1175 km) southwest of the southern tip of Baja California.
It’s moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A gradual turn to the west-southwest is expected by Friday with this motion expected to continue during the next 48 hours.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts.
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 80 miles (130 km).
Felicia has rapidly intensified into a category 1 hurricane on the Saffir Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale during the past 24 hours and further intensification is expected during the next day or so.
