Harry Wayne Mitchell, 72 of Chipley, Florida passed on August 5, 2021.
Oorah! – That is how Wayne lived his life – work hard and do the right thing. He served in the Marine Corps right after high school and believed in the values of this country and serving in the military.
After returning home, he went to work with Southern Bell (AT&T) where he worked as a cable repairman for 30 years and apparently enjoyed “digging pits”.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 52 years, Sharon; daughter Meg Sullivan (Jeep); daughter Lori Taylor (Michael); son Matthew Mitchell (Kyla), 7 grand-children, 3 great-grand-children, sisters Mary Nell Rustin (Kenneth), Martha Crawford (Lavon), brother Buddy Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews.
He was born March 13, 1949 to the late Robert C. Mitchell and Mary Lee Birge Mitchell. He passed from this life to his heavenly home on August 5, 2021 at the age of 72.
Funeral services will be held 10AM Monday, August 9, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Rev. Tim Brigham and Bro. H.L. Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation 4-6PM Sunday, August 8, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1976 Shiloh Lane, Chipley, Florida 32428.
