Debra Sasser, age 63 of Chipley, Florida went home to be with the Lord on August 8, 2021 at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center.
Debra was born on September 13, 1957, in Marianna, Florida to Rudolph Sims and Norma Sellers. A lifelong resident of the Panhandle, she retired from the State of Florida Department of Transportation in 2017. As the loving matriarch of the family, Debra always made sure that her home was a safe and welcome haven for all.
She took the utmost pride in her family, and she truly put them first in all that she did. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors: fishing, riding motorcycles, side by sides, and horses; she was also notorious for chewing ice. Debra’s incomparable mothering nature will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Rudolph Sims and Norma Sellers; husband: Wesley Sasser; Son: Jared Sasser; Brothers: David Sims and Donald Sims.
She is survived by her brother: Dale Sims (Barbara) of Chipley, FL; sister: Denice Sims Dunn of Bonifay, FL; grandchild: Lucas Sasser; several nieces and nephews; she was a mom to all.
Funeral Services will be held at 9AM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Chipley, Florida with Rev. Tim Brigham officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation from 6PM-8PM on Friday, August 13, 2021 at the church. Shiloh Baptist Church is located at 1976 Shiloh Lane, Chipley, Florida 32428.
