Charles Clinton Harris, 69 of Panama City, Florida Passes on August 11, 2021

Charles “Charlie” Clinton Harris, 69, of Panama City, FL passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021.

He was born on July 21, 1952, in DeFuniak Springs, FL to Lloyd and Lucile Harris.

He was an Entrepreneur from an early age.

Charlie loved the outdoors and was an avid farmer where he shared with many friends his abundance of produce and plants.

Charlie also worked for Florida Game & Fresh Water Fish Commission as a Dispatcher in DeFuniak Springs and a Check Station Operator in Moore’s Pasture Wildlife Management Area.

He also was Sales Manager for Triangle Chevrolet in DeFuniak Springs, FL and sold Insurance for Life of Georgia.

Charlie served several years as a Walton County Commissioner. He always said his job was serving citizens and saving them tax dollars.  

He served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church of DeFuniak Springs and was active in the Gideon’s. Charlie never met a stranger, and it was evident in his work and daily walk. He never left a new friend without asking, “If you died tonight, where would you spend eternity?”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Diana Hanks Harris, and brother Ronald Harris. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Karen Wimberly Harris; two sisters, Brenda Harris Jackson (Ronnie) of Dothan, AL; Amy Harris Adams (Powell) of Southport; sister-in-law Julie Carter Harris Letchworth, mother-in-law, Sue Wimberly Baughman (Richard); brother-in-law, Ray Wimberly (Evelyn), sister-in-law, Michelle Wimberly Bascetta; and a host of beloved nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 21, 2021, at 1 PM in The Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Craig Brannon and Rev. Vernon Harkey officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 12-1 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Gideons International for placement of Bibles, in memory of Charles “Charlie” Harris.

Charlie’s heart was witnessing for Christ and putting the Word of God in people’s hands and heart.

The family would like to thank Dr. Linda Fox and Dr. Robert Joseph for the compassion and care they have shown in the caring of Charlie’s health.
