Tropical Storm Fred Scheduled to Make Landfall on Florida Panhandle During Latter Part of Monday, August 16, 2021

The National Hurricane Center has issued an advisory for Tropical Storm, at 10AM Central Standard Time.

Tropical Storm Fred is located about 55 miles southwest of Apalachicola and has maximum sustained winds of 60 mph.

Fred is currently moving north at 10 mph and has a minimum central pressure of about 993mb.

Some strengthening is possible before landfall, after which Fred is expected to weaken. 

This general motion is expected through tonight.  

On the forecast track, the center of Fred should make landfall in the eastern Florida Panhandle this afternoon or early this evening, and move over western Georgia on Tuesday. 

Fred is expected to bring a dangerous storm surge and heavy rains to the Florida Panhandle and Big Bend.

Tropical storm warnings have been extended to eastward to the Steinhatchee River. 

Fred is expected to produce 4 to 8 inches of rain in the Panhandle with isolated maximum storm totals of 12 inches are expected. 

Tornadoes are possible today and tonight across parts of the Florida Panhandle, southwest Georgia, and southeast Alabama.
