Allan O. Williams, 80, of Chipley, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021 at VITAS Inpatient Hospice in Panama City, Florida.
Mr. Williams was a native of Montgomery, Alabama, graduating from Robert E. Lee High School.
Lovingly known as “The Music Man” to many, he was a loyal Troy State “Sound of the South” Alumni.
His 45 year career as a band director began close to home at Goshen High School near Troy, Alabama, and took him to Highland Home High School, Pasco County High School in Dade City, Florida, Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia, Bay High School in Panama City, Florida, and then to Chipley High School and Roulac Middle School in Chipley, Florida.
He enjoyed many hours of playing his trombone with several community bands.
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many capacities including Bishop in Panama City. He also participated for many years in scouting.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Rebecca Williams, daughter Daphne Reynolds (Rodger), sons Jack Williams (Pebley), Timothy Bowen (Marilyn) and Daryl Williams (Kim), 16 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held on Thursday, August 19, 2021. Visitation will begin at 9:30 am Central Time at Brown’s Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida.
Funeral Services will follow at 11:00 am Central Time at the same location. Family will gather for a short graveside service following the funeral.
Due to weather and covid concerns, there will be a Facebook live stream of the funeral service. For those who choose to attend in person, the family respectfully requests that you wear a mask.
