Jimmie Cleveland Donaldson Sr (Jimbo from his younger days, PAPA to his family and many others in his latter days) fought and finished his last battle here on earth and moved to the arms of Jesus on August 20, 2021, at the age of 70. He passed with the love of his life Lisa (Grandma) by his side. He was born on May 16, 1951, to Jordan and Eunice Donaldson who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by Ray and Ann Peacock his wife’s parents and Willie Jo Eason, her aunt.
He is survived by his wife of over 36 years, Lisa Peacock Donaldson, seven children including spouses: Julie Donaldson of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Manda and Noma Martini of Keller, Texas, Jim and Ashley Donaldson of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, and Sara and Alex Dowling of Samson, AL. Jimmie and Lisa have 9 grandchildren they feel are their own children as well: Austin Donaldson and Caleb Donaldson of Samson, AL, Taylor and Eve Martini of Keller, TX, Jaxon Donaldson of Samson, AL, Miles and Porter Dowling of Samson, AL, and Maddox and Makenna Donaldson of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. He is also survived by one sister Rhonda and Roy Farris of Samson, AL, and one brother Byron and Anne Donaldson of Samson, AL. His nieces and nephews are Lisa Donaldson, ReGina Donaldson, Dr. Rory Farris and wife Liz, Reagan Farris, Rhett Farris, and wife Anna and all their children and spouses and grandchildren. He also leaves behind their little family dog Sophie.
Jimmie has touched many lives and leaves behind many friends from his school days, his service in Vietnam, his days working with his dad at Samson Auto Parts, and as an Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Service Officer for almost 26 years. He loved his job helping Veterans most of all. He loved all people the same and unconditionally. He was a sweet and kind man and there are not enough words to list all the good things he accomplished in life. His pride and joy in life was his marriage and his family. He is loved and will be missed tremendously.
Funeral service will be held Sunday, August 22,2021 at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of Warren Holloway Ward Funeral Home in Geneva, AL with the Rev. Larry Mock officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday beginning at 5:00 p.m. and continue until service time.
