By | September 4, 2021

Partners for Pets is proud to announce that the organization has been selected as a recipient of a $10,000 grant from Florida Animal Friend.

Grant funds will be utilized to expand the shelter’s access to low-cost spay and neuter surgery, cover the costs of pain medication during surgery, and assist with the cost of rabies shots.

Florida Animal Friend is a not-for-profit agency dedicated to ending pet overpopulation. Each year, Florida Animal Friend provides yearly funding to municipal and nonprofit organizations to help implement or continue free and low-cost spay and neuter programs.

According to Partners for Pets President, Ken Campbell, this donation is a blessing.  “As most of the community knows, Partners for Pets has suffered greatly due to Hurricane Michael; these funds will facilitate the organization’s relocation efforts while allowing us to continue providing such an essential service to our neighbors, ”he said. “Competition for the funds is strong, and we’re grateful to have been chosen, as it speaks to the quality and sustainability of our work.”

Florida Animal Friend funds the grant program through the sale of specialty license plates, available through the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.

Each time a resident purchases a spay and neuter license plate, Florida Animal Friend receives $25 and the funds are used exclusively to support free and low-cost spay and neuter programs across the state.
