Lynn Haven, Florida Police have announced an arrest in connection with an overnight shooting that left a local man in critical condition.
Giovanna Alvarez Walters, forty-five years of age has been charged with an open count of Attempted Murder. Walters is accused of shooting her husband, forty-six year old Andrew H. Walters in the abdomen with a handgun during a domestic disturbance at their home in the 200 block of Shoreview Drive.
Upon their arrival, responding officers found the victim lying in the floor and the suspect standing over him. The weapon believed to have been used in the shooting was found nearby. Giovanna Walters was taken into custody without incident on scene.
Andrew Walters was transported to a local hospital by Emergency Medical Services personnel where he underwent emergency surgery for treatment of his injuries. Andrew Walters remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Walters two minor children, one of whom was in the home at the time of the shooting have been sheltered by the Florida Department of Children & Families to ensure their continued safety. Professionals from the Child Protection Team and the Gulf Coast Children’s Advocacy Center were also called in to assist in this case.
Walters was transported to the Bay County Jail, where she is being held pending her first appearance today before a local judge.
