Lynn Haven Police have arrested a local teen in connection with a stabbing incident involving multiple victims which occurred this evening at Cain-Griffin Park located at 616 E. 17th Street.
Patrol Officers responded to a reported stabbing at the park at approximately 5:40pm this evening. Upon arrival, they found two victims suffering from stab wounds to the chest and torso. Emergency first aid was rendered and both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. A description of the suspect was obtained from available witnesses and a search of the area was begun.
An alert Lynn Haven officer spotted the suspect nearby and attempted to detain the suspect before he fled on foot. Lynn Haven Officers and Deputies from the Bay County Sheriff’s Department searched the area and later found the suspect hiding underneath a parked car, whereupon he was taken into custody.
Shortly after arriving at the hospital, one of the victims, a fourteen-year old local youth succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased. The second victim, who was listed in critical condition was treated for his injuries and later flown to another hospital for further treatment.
Fifteen-year old, Savien Thaniel Craven, who listed a Callaway, FL address has been charged with (1) Open Count of Murder and (1) count of Aggravated Battery. He was turned over to the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Bay Regional Detention Facility where he will be held pending his first appearance before a local judge. As a result of the police investigation, it has been determined that these stabbings resulted from a drug deal gone bad.
