Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Garen Vandale Dickens on Charges of First Degree Murder

On October 1st, 2020, at approximately 10:50 p.m., The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) received a call of a shooting that had occurred behind a local motel.

Upon arrival, Deputies discovered that a female victim had been fatally wounded. Working through the
night and into the next morning, Investigators with the JCSO Criminal Investigations Division, the Uniform
Patrol Division, the Reserve Unit, the Jackson County Drug Task Force, the State Attorney’s Office, and
the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, were able to develop leads which resulted in the arrest of
Bryn Martin Spivey, Daquan Daren Walker, and Devarrious Marshun Wimbush.

In December of 2021, Investigators were able to further develop information and evidence which lead
to the Grand Jury indictment of Garen Vandale Dickens for First Degree Felony Murder with a Firearm.
Dickens’ case was subsequently submitted to the United States Marshal Service for their assistance in
locating him.

On February 14, 2022, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Dickens was located and taken into custody without
incident in Chipley, Florida.

worked tirelessly to bring these individuals to justice and would also like to thank the multitude of
partners who assisted in this case with a special thanks to the Florida Caribbean Regional Fugitive Task
Force of the U.S. Marshal Service, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Holmes County Sheriff’s
Office, the Chipley Police Department, and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
