Finishing his first year as head football coach and athletic director of Chipley, Florida High School, Marcus Buchanan has been co-selected as Florida High School Football Class 1A Coach of the Year.
Buchanan, along with Madison County, Florida High School coach Mike Coe was co-selected for the honor.
The Chipley Tigers had several less-than-stellar seasons, and all that was turned around with the advent of Buchanan.
Buchanan accepted the award and remarked that he could not have accomplished this or anything else without the help and support of the community, team and coaches.
‘It’s a big deal, but like I told the kids, you don’t win an award like this without good assistant coaches and without good players, and without a good support system at home, so we will accept this award as a team’.
