The Washington County, Florida ‘Senior Expo’, hosted by the Council on Aging, was well-attended on Thursday, April 14, 2022, as seen in these photos from the event by Photography students from Florida Panhandle Technical College in Chipley, Florida.
From 10AM until 1PM, local seniors were treated to haircuts, manicures, health screenings, lunch, and lots of giveaways, at the Washington County Ag Center on Highway 90 in Chipley, Florida.
The event, embraced by the health programs at nearby Florida Panhandle Technical College, which utilizes the event to give free haircuts to the seniors, courtesy of the FPTC Cosmetology Program, and to screen the seniors for health issues, utilizing students from the Practical Nursing and Patient Care Technology Programs, has been around for a decade.
‘We learn something each year and we try to provide services to this welcoming audience’, said Shanda Bruner, Instructor of the FPTC Cosmetology Program.
‘We really want to pamper these folks when they come to this event, so from hair to nails, we get to treat them, as well as get some practical experience for our students, and we appreciate the opportunity’, finishes Bruner.
