The City of Vernon, Florida met in a Special Meeting on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 to interview applicants for the position of Deputy City Clerk, following the resignation of Deputy City Clerk Michelle Cross, as seen in the video clip (below).

Although several candidates initially applied, only two accepted the offer to interview for the position, and the City Council chose Angela Rose Capezzera, with a unanimous Council vote of 4-0.

Acknowledging that there are some City Clerk tasks that have not been completed over the past several years, discussion also centered around a new Fire Department Brush Truck, the ordering (or failure to do so) of which there is some uncertainty, and newly hired City Clerk Karen White and City Attorney Michelle Jordan are investigating the paperwork, or lack of it, concerning the matter.

New Vernon Mayor and City Council members will be sworn to office on May 2, 2022.
