The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has announced that Kristin Hellmich has been named the new director of strategy and media communications. Hellmich will be responsible for strategizing, implementing, and managing media relations, and new external media initiatives for the Poarch Band of Creek Indians.
Hellmich brings more than 15 years of experience in public relations, marketing, advertising and communication strategy to the role. She most recently served as director of marketing and public relations for OWA, the tribe’s multi-million-dollar entertainment complex located in Foley.
In the role she led all marketing and communication efforts for the OWA Resort and the more than 12 company-owned businesses. Previously Hellmich held various roles and responsibilities in the marketing and communications field, including owning her own agency.
“I am pleased to announce the addition of Kristin to our talented team,” said Poarch Band of Creek Indians Chief Government and Public Affairs Officer Robbie McGhee. “Kristin has been part of our tribal family for the seven years she served OWA, and I am excited to see what she accomplishes in this new role. As the tribe continues to grow it is key that we have a team in place that can facilitate this direction, and the addition of Kristin will ensure our media strategies and goals are met.”
Hellmich is a graduate of Columbia Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and marketing. She also holds the designation as a Travel Marketing Professional and Festival & Event Planner awarded by Southeast Tourism Society – one of the most respected continuing education programs for Tourism and Hospitality Professionals in the United States.
