Washington County Sheriff’s Office Responds to Plane Crash on Douglas Ferry Road on Sunday, May 22, 2022

Washington County Sheriff’s Office was on scene at Douglas Ferry Rd. in reference to a plane crash on Sunday evening, May 22, 2022 at approximately 7:51 p.m.
 
The aircraft was traveling from Panama City International Airport when it reported the first engine failed at 7000 ft.
 
The 58-year-old pilot, in route to the Atlanta Airport, reported the second engine failed at approximately 5000 ft.
The pilot declared an emergency and landed near Douglas Ferry Rd. in a field.
 
The plane slid approximately 225 yards and caught fire.
 
The pilot was able to escape the plane and did not sustain any injuries. WCSO along with Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene to diminish the fire.
 
The investigation is ongoing at this time.
