James Jeffrey Driggers, 66 of Hastings, Florida Passes on June 22, 2022

James Jeffrey “Jimmy” Driggers, 66, of Hastings, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, at his home following an extended illness.
 
He was born in St. Augustine, FL to Herman and Virginia (Barnes) Driggers and had been a lifelong resident of Hastings.
 
Jimmy attended Hastings High School and later served in the U S Navy during the Vietnam War. He had worked for BTS Land Management in Green Cove Springs for 10 years. He had previously worked as a Deputy and Corrections Officer for Putnam County.
 
Jimmy was an avid fisherman who was most alive when he was on or at the water catching fish. He was also an amazing cook who carried on many of his mother’s cooking traditions. He loved to see his family and friends come together enjoying good food and fellowship.
 
Jimmy’s love for children and animals was like no others. He always had a shoulder to cry on, a strong hug and a word to the wise on the dangers of men. His love and generosity were felt by so many. If you had a need he was there one way or another.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents, and toddler brother, Roger Driggers.
 
He is survived by wife, Julie, his “Babydoll” who Jimmy spent the best 13 years of his life with. He is also survived by his children, Jimmy’s pride and joy, Joseph Chadwick “Chad” Driggers of East Palatka, James Christopher “Chris” Driggers (Carissa) of Tampa, Jordan Kendrick Driggers of East Palatka, and Kara King (Dan) of Palm Coast, siblings, Arita Groover (Wayne), Danny Driggers (Ron), Jerry Driggers (Linda), Terry Driggers (Mary) and Juanita McCarrick (Steve), granddaughter, Rachel King, goddaughter, Kelli Clark (Omar Masoud) of Jacksonville, numerous nieces, nephews, friends and family and their children and lastly his little girl, “Bailee”.
 
Services will be held at 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 26, 2022, at Johnson-Overturf Chapel in Palatka with Pastor Ric Huxford officiating. Military Honors will be rendered by the U S Navy. The family will receive friends on Sunday at the funeral home beginning at 4:00 pm until time of services.
