Dwight was born in Florala, Alabama to the late Leroy Theodore & Florence Thesoline (nee Preacher) Reightnour on 14 Sep 1948. He grew up in a military family that settled down in Niceville, FL.
A graduate of Niceville High School class of 1966, Dwight later joined the U.S. Navy where he served 4 years from 1967 to 1970, including a tour Vietnam.
Upon culmination of his honorable military service, Dwight continued his education graduating from University of West Florida in 1974. He attended Troy State University and received a Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance in 1977. He then began his long and distinguished 35-year career with the State of Florida. After retiring from the State of Florida he continued his career as a licensed mental health therapist with Florida Therapy Services.
Dwight was an avid hunter with a passion for wildlife and the great outdoors. He had hobbies a mile long that reflected that love as well. He was a kind man, who never met a stranger. His quick wit and sense of humor would have you rolling for days. He was a larger than life man, with many accomplishments. One of his greatest accomplishments was his daughter who he cherished dearly. Along with finding the love of his life, who he married, and who was by his side until the very end. Dwight had so much left to do on this earth; hugs to be given, I love yous to be said, jokes to be told, and a deer to be hunted, but his heart wasn’t strong enough to carry him through. He will be missed more than he will ever know.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents; & his sister, Clara I Gideon. Left to cherish all his memories; his loving wife of 29 years Marcia Y (nee Whitaker) Reightnour of Bonifay; Heather M Warren (Dennis) of Highland, IL; his 3 beloved grandchild who called him Papa; Clayton S Smith of St Charles, MO, Bryce R Smith of Edwardsville, IL, & Liam J Warren of Highland, IL; a sister Belinda L Rice (Michael) of Crestview, FL; brother-in-law Kyle J Gideon of Cypress, TX; 1 niece & 3 nephews.
