Margery Ellen Helms Pettis, 79 of Washington County, Florida Passes on July 18, 2022

Margery Ellen Helms Pettis, age 79, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, July 18, 2022. She passed peacefully at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was born on April 2, 1943 in Georgia to the late Alvie and Verbie (Branton) Pippin.

She is a lifetime resident of Washington County and she is a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of Chipley. She really loved her church family and the Seniors Club. Margery was previously employed with Washington County School System but has enjoyed her past 30 years of retirement. She will be remembered as a woman who loved her family and her church. Also she loved spending time gardening and growing her flowers.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Helms, husband, John Pettis Jr., brothers, Eugene Pippin and Royce Pippin. Survivors include, one daughter, Sharon Carter and husband Curtis, two sons, David Helms and wife Marcetta, Howard Helms and wife Lee, three sisters, Carol Finnell and husband Wayne, Helen Hamm, Betty Loyed, six grandchildren, Danielle Gay and husband Nick, Jesse Carter and wife Jessica, Chelsea Dietrich and husband Nich, Leslie Bowman and husband Daniel, Lexi Vaughn and husband Clint, Lori Popp and husband Austin and 10 great grandchildren. With all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren thinking they were her favorite.

The family would like to give a special thanks to her friends, church family and Emerald Coast Hospice during her recent sickness.

Family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Brown Funeral Home from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at First Free Will Baptist Church of Chipley at 11:00 A.M. Reverend John Howell will be officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Free Will Baptist Cemetery.

Margery loved flowers so flowers are being accepted, but donations can be made to the Senior Saints of First Free Will Baptist Church of Chipley in her memory.
