Cheryl Ann Williams Announces Candidacy for Washington County, Florida School Board Member District 5

By | August 11, 2022

I am Cheryl Ann Williams, and I am applying for the non-partisan position of Washington County School Board Member for District 5.

I am a proud 1996 graduate of Chipley High School, and I attended Graceville High School through the 9th grade.

My father is Bobby Williams, retired from West Point Home, and Pat Williams is my Great
Uncle, who served 35 years in the Chipley and Vernon schools as a teacher and principal, also working in the District offices.

I have been employed in finance and banking since 1997 and I am a currently a Customer Relationship Specialist, working remotely for an international mortgage servicing company.

I have 5 children- Luke, 24, married and employed by a welding business. My son Ian, 15, started 9th grade this year at Chipley High School. I also enjoy three ‘Bonus’ children- Cierra, a Family Nurse Practitioner, wife and mother; Jenna, a Cafe Owner/Manager and Chandler, a Car Salesman and Welder.

I have been asked why I want to serve the community in the position of School Board Member, and if I have the time necessary to execute the job. The answer to these questions is simple.

WHY? I have a student in the Washington County School system, and I am committed to helping Washington County Schools be as successful as possible, for students and parents, teachers, staff, and administration, and the community, the beneficiary of good education.

TIME? Yes, I work full-time, but I have and will make the time necessary to serve our students, teachers, staff, and administration.

My passion is to see our fully accredited local technical college, Florida Panhandle Technical College, prosper and achieve full potential, and I want to see growth in our technical educational offerings.

It’s no secret that the country desperately needs more skilled, job-ready employees, entrepreneurs and business owners, and our technical college offers opportunity and potential for well-paid jobs.

Our children will likely stay in our community and raise families with the growth of these opportunities.

I am a team player, but also an independent thinker and good listener, all of which are important to good decision-making. Decisions must be predicated on best outcomes for all involved, and I am here to serve as an advocate for the community.

Washington County is rich in heritage, in people and in opportunity, from Caryville to Ebro, from Vernon to Wausau, from Chipley to Sunny Hills, Greenhead and beyond. Our citizens deserve the best, and they deserve fair and equitable treatment.

I humbly ask for your support and vote on August 23, 2022, as non-partisan candidate for Washington County School Board District 5. Please feel free to contact me anytime at 850-260-1635.
