John “Hubert” Cumbie went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
John “Hurbet” Cumbie was born on July 11, 1935, in Bainbridge, GA. After graduation from Washington County High School (Chipley, Florida) in 1954, he served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1960, where he was stationed in Germany as Postal Clerk. After returning from the Army, he worked at the “St. Joe Paper Company” in (Port St. Joe, FL.). Later, he had successful career with Florida Department of Transportation in Chipley, Florida where he retired in 1998. Most of all, he loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his parents: John Cumbie and Romellie Sapp Cumbie and his sister-in-law: Jan Wood.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years: Ann Cumbie of Chipley, FL; 3 sons: Jimmy Cumbie (Donna) of Chipley, FL, Gary Cumbie (Michelle) of Chipley, FL and David Cumbie (Jennifer) of Marianna, FL. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren and 3 great- great grandchildren; two loving sisters in laws: Lee Perkins (Dick) and Jean Boyum (Tom) of St Petersburg, FL.
Service will be held 2 PM Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Sapp Church in Cottondale, Florida with Bro. Robert Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in Sapp Church Cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida.
The family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
