On Friday, November 25, 2022, Walmart Loss Prevention Personnel notified the Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office about a man who had stolen several hundred dollars of merchandise, including a 70-inch television. When the suspect was confronted, he fled.
Several deputies were in the area and quickly responded to the call. A foot chase ensued, and deputies chased the suspect on foot for several minutes, and quickly caught him in front of Lowes.
The suspect, who identified himself as “John Doe,” was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility and has been charged with Theft of Property, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Giving a False Name to Law Enforcement.
The suspect will remain at the Jackson County Correctional Facility until his first appearance, and he is correctly identified.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will have extra patrols out during the holiday season, especially near Walmart and other retailers.
This will offer a faster response to calls for service and to deter criminal activity in our shopping areas.
