On December 23, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 90. Contact was made with the driver, identified as Ciara Welch of Andalusia, AL.
During the traffic stop, Welch granted deputies consent to search the vehicle. While searching, deputies discovered two containers in a cup of liquid. Inside the containers, deputies found a baggie of methamphetamine and a cut straw used to ingest it.
Ms. Welch claimed ownership of the methamphetamine and told deputies she put the containers in the cup in an attempt to conceal or destroy them during the traffic stop.
Ciara Welch was arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail. She was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence.
